2012.1.03 - CPCT Invites All Members To Board Elections
Crown Point Community Theatre is holding elections for the Board of Directors for its 2012 year. Elections will be held at 7:30 PM on Monday, January 9th, 2012 at Farm Bureau Insurance (2008 N. Main St. in Crown Point). If you are on Facebook, and you are interested in attending, you can RSVP to the Facebook event here.
What does the Board do?
The Board manages the day-to-day workings of Crown Point Community Theatre. Meetings are currently held on the second Monday of every month to discuss general CPCT business, which includes (but is not limited to): the state of current and upcoming productions, the state of CPCT's finances, the implementation of various marketing and media strategies, and methods for maintaining and improving the quality of theater we produce in the Crown Point community. The Board is also in charge of selecting the Mainstage show season that CPCT will perform from the Fall of 2012 to the Summer of 2013.
How will the elections work?
On the evening of January 9th, 2012, a head count shall be taken of all present CPCT Members. Anyone who is sixteen (16) years of age or older, and has been credited with appearing in, or working on, at least 2 CPCT shows within the past two years is considered to be a CPCT Member.
* Note: CPCT Members are different from current elected Board Members, who are also considered to be CPCT Members.
Of the present CPCT Members, anyone can submit themselves or nominate another Member for consideration for Board election, which must then be seconded by another present Member before being added to the List of Nominees.
Once all nominations are considered and the final List of Nominees is compiled, brief statements of consideration can be made. Afterwards all present CPCT Members will then, via a private written ballot, vote from the persons on the list of nominees to join the Board of Directors. Members may vote for, by writing down the name of, as many or as few of the nominees as they wish, but cannot vote for more nominees than available Board seats, and may only for any given individual nominee once.
* Note: By current bylaws, Crown Point Community Theatre's Board of Directors can hold no more than twelve (12) members.
** Special Note: Any founding member of Crown Point Community Theatre currently serving on the Board of Directors may, per their option, retain their seat on the Board without the need of re-election. For the elections to be held in 2012, only one of the current Board Members, Amanda Dietrich, holds this option. Her seat is hers to retain, should she wish to do so.
After all the votes are submitted, they will then be privately tallied and the results announced. Any nominee receiving a majority of the present Member votes shall be granted a seat on CPCT's Board of Directors as a Member-at-Large. Should more nominees receive a majority of CPCT Member votes than available seats, the nominee who received the highest vote count shall be the elected Board of Directors, then the nominee with second-highest vote count, etc. until the number of available seats are filled.
How does one become an Officer of the Board of Directors?
After the general elections for Members-At-Large, the new annual Board of Directors will then, amongst themselves, nominate and elect the Officers of the Board, filling each position (President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary of Minutes, Recording and Correspondence Secretary) one at a time, in the same manner with which general elections were held.
* Note: Although public, CPCT Members do not partake in the election of Board Officers, only the Members-at-Large of the Board of Directors.
